On Sunday evening around 8.15pm, NWMRT were contacted and tasked by the PSNI Northern control room about a woman with 6 children who had contacted the PSNI by telephone to say they were lost somewhere in Ballypatrick forest in North County Antrim. They were cold, disorientated and frightened.
Despite fighting their way through very bad visibility, with thick fog and darkness, members arrived on scene within the hour and given the potential seriousness of the situation, immediately started a search of the area with emergency blue lights on.

Thankfully, the family saw the blue lights and made their way towards the vehicles and team, who then located them. Once they were checked for potential hypothermia etc and given warm drinks etc, they were led safely out and were able to proceed home, within two hours of the initial call out.
