The North West Mountain Rescue Team (NWMRT) was formed in the North West in 1980 and our Fermanagh Section is now almost ten years old. During that time we have been involved in numerous operations in support of the Statutory Emergency Services. 

Our work increasingly involves not only Mountain Rescue but searches for missing vulnerable persons in rural and semi-urban locations. The team also offers surface support for Cave Rescue and is available to assist the RNLI around the Fermanagh Lough shores. Our work also includes giving guidance to young people on Mountain Safety. We also have performed animal rescues from quarries and crags to prevent trapped sheep and goats starving to death.

The NWMRT is made up of volunteers who receive no payment whatsoever, and the team is financed by grants and public fundraising events.

Fermanagh District Council has agreed to lease the old Water Service Bungalow in Florencecourt to the Team. We intend to operate a Rescue Base at this location and the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation will also store their equipment on this site.

 Our volunteers are working hard to bring this building into use after it stood idle for almost 10 years. This is a tremendous challenge and we need your help with money and materials.

 We need your support in cash or in kind to turn this bungalow into a Rescue Base where our members can train and where we can extend and improve our service to the community.
